Court Today

Guilty, one count of involuntary deviate sex.

No contest, one count of rape.

One year house arrest, ten years probation.

$24,818 in restitution to be paid to one of the primary victims for counselling fees, both past and future.

To be listed on the Megan's Law registry as a sex offender.

It's not justice, exactly, but it helps.

I've gotta wonder what justice would be in a case of this sort, but what he got was something, at least.
From what I've heard, being listed as a sex offender can cause many problems for the listee.

That's it?
I dunno. At least it is something. But all of those young women he victimized. It just doesn't seem like enough. I mean, the registry? that's important. But how do they know he isn't going to do it again? And that he didn't do it in Arizona?

Sigh. No easy answer to this one.

How are you holding up? Are you ok?

Thank you for the follow up.

Amazing what passes for "justice" though the Megan's Law registry is at least something that will follow him the rest of his days. And, honestly, not sure what else would make sense.

I'm hoping you are ok with how it went today. Good for you to stand up, too.

The sentence seems odder still, when one considers that the oh-so-dangerous Martha Stewart served actual prison time.

I, too, hope that you and the other women are all right. Friday can't have been easy.

It seems like a slap on the wrist, but I guess something is better than nothing.

How are you doing with it?

In this case, my heart yearns for retributive justice. Obviously, I need to work on my character.

I hope you're doing well, brave Ruth.
