GAME ON!

It's really all Leigh's fault.

Leigh is my dear friend who lives in Arkansas and makes beautiful jewelry. She was out this way on business a few months back and brought me some of her gorgeous chain maille silver items and suggested that I sell or auction them as part of our PKD fundraising efforts.

Then I ran into my friend Charlie, who was just back from a business meeting where discussions had centered around the idea that in order to get big results, one must think (and plan) big.

Well.

Here we are several months later and I have a dining room stuffed with original art, artisan jewelry, books, Cancun vacations, Flyers tickets, Eagles tickets, theatre tickets, restaurant gift cards, massage vouchers, salon gift certificates.... my cup runneth over. Tonight at the Swarthmore Co-op, we will attempt to spin all of these wonderful donations into gold for PKD research.

I've also been baking like a madwoman -- somehow I decided that I should cater the whole damn event. (Yes, it's a sickness.) We've got lemon tartlets and raspberry vacherins and pistachio petits fours and cheddar-and-pecan gougeres and more that I can't even recall. Now to get it all over to Dartmouth Avenue in one piece.

Join us, won't you? From 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm, wine and desserts will be served and admission is $10 per person. A fine time will be had by all.

And to get you in the mood -- here's a fall birthday cake I delivered this morning. Isn't it purty?

(Vanilla cake, pumpkin Italian butter cream filling, mocha Italian butter cream icing. Flowers are all Italian butter cream. NOM!)

Dang, that looks AWESOME!
I'm trying my hardest to find a sitter for tonight because I'd really like to be there. Send good thoughts my way!

And Michael's been away...sigh. You are a crazy woman for sure, and I know the event will be a huge success.

Stunning cake, but you know how I feel about your cakes.

Afterwards, will you rest? Please.
